Welcome to Pizza-Making 101, this hands-on class is designed for adults who love pizza and are looking to elevate their culinary skills in the comfort of their own kitchen.



In this interactive course, you'll learn the art and science behind crafting the perfect pizza, from dough to toppings. Led by Sara and Candace, this course will cover essential techniques, tips, and tricks to create delicious pizzas that rival your favorite pizzeria.

  • The Foundation: Dive into the fundamentals of pizza-making, including selecting the right flour, yeast, and other key ingredients for creating the perfect dough.

  • Mastering Dough: Unlock the secrets to kneading, proofing, and shaping dough like a pro. Whether you prefer thin and crispy or thick and chewy crusts, you'll learn how to achieve the texture you desire.

  • Homemade Sauce: Learn a flavorful sauce recipe that packs in flavor and leaves out sugar. This sauce freezes beautifully, so that you can make pizza anytime the craving strikes.

  • Creative Toppings: Ingredients will feature the classics and the artisanal.

  • Perfecting the Bake: Learn our tips for baking your pizzas to perfection, whether using a conventional oven, pizza stone, or outdoor grill. From achieving the ideal balance of crispy crust and gooey cheese to avoiding common pitfalls, you'll gain confidence in your pizza-baking know-how.

  • Presentation and Pairings: Elevate your pizza experience with tips on garnishing, slicing, and serving your creations like a culinary connoisseur. Plus, discover the art of pairing pizza with wine and other beverages.

Candace Beaucar-Need and Sara Minard

Candace Beaucar-Need has over 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry and mentoring developing chefs. More specifically, her restaurant Finch's Brasserie specialized in wood-fired pizzas. Sara Minard has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and has been teaching cooking classes, food geography, and food anthropology for over 15 years, catering to students aged 3 to 80.
